Dr. Stephen J. Madosky, Sr.
Florida State Director, Division of Institutions
For 25 years Stephen ran a successful family business until he was struck at high speed by a drunk driver causing life threatening injuries. After his medical retirement, he turned to higher education in support of his faith and community. He holds two master’s degrees in theology and divinity as well as two doctorates in Behavioral Science and Community Care. His dissertation works have focused on fatherlessness and the societal effects on young men, often leading to incarceration, for which he developed a proprietary attachment repair protocol called G.E.A.R. (God Experience Attachment Repair). He has served his community through disaster relief and trauma debriefing, public safety advisory boards and crisis center/addiction facility counseling.
Commonly referred to as “Dr. Steve” his volunteer work led him to a relationship with Damascus where he was instrumental in the development and coordination of the Damascus Reentry Initiative at the Florida Department of Corrections Charlotte Correctional Facility. He now oversees the partnership with the Division of Institutions and the Florida Department of Corrections as programs have expanded throughout the state in support of incarcerated veterans.
Stephen is the proud father of five daughters, one son and ten grandchildren. He serves as a fiduciary for his disabled Veteran father who proudly served his country and experiences mental and physical health problems related to his service. He commented that he has dedicated this season of his life to serving the veteran community in honor of his father George D Madosky Sr. USMC.
